I have been up since 4:00am. That's not really out of the ordinary but I decided to go to the masjid for morning prayer. All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS). I sat in the parking lot listening to Quran recitation before the call to prayer. Watching the vaping smoke from the car in front of me had me a bit perplexed. Walking into ADAMS always brings up the feels. Remembering where Hadi's casket was, looking down from upstairs and seeing how many people showed up the janaza. Thinking about the twin's first part, my marriage ceremony, sitting in the Imam's office realizing my marriage was over. Hugging a close friend before her own marriage ceremony. My father was one of the founders of the Islamic Center of Topeka. That masjid was able to bring me a sense of peace, the same way ADAMS can. The recitation for Fajr today was incredible. There was a young girl on her own while her father was in the men's section. Looking at her and telling her to come stand next to me was lovely, especially when she smiled at me with eyes of gratitude.
Surprisingly, I am only on my first cup of coffee. I decided to try a new place. Caboose Brewing Company in Fairfax. I am supposed to be writing a paper for my coursework in Marital and Family Therapy but I am procrastinating). It's hard to believe it's already winter break for Zakaria. 2023, what will you bring?
