I am on a second grade field trip and all I can say is that I need more coffee. That being said, hearing Zakaria talk about his parents volunteering feels incredible. My id still has me with long hair and Zakaria felt compelled to explain why I now have short hair. Hearing him talk about his brother’s hair falling out because of the medicine reminded me that Zakaria is quite the educator. I am a bit concerned about this as I unexpectedly had to explain menstrustion to him as we dropped off some fabric to high school students making reusable menstrual pads. In true Zakaria fashion, he wanted to know every detail.
I wish I could be sitting between Hadi and Zakaria for this field trip. We would discuss the passing of Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) and how awesome it was when Hadi dressed up as Chewbacca and freaked Nurse Serena out.
I am back to wearing contacts and so it won’t be as easy to hide it when my eyes tear up. Also, scleral lenses are no joke. I am somewhat used to my plungers but the fact that I have plungers for my eyes still is odd to me. There is also a bit of panic each night when they don’t come out on my first try.
I am so grateful that I have the ability to be part of this field trip. I am grateful I am spending this time allowing myself to figure out what is best for my soul. Coffee, coffee is good for my soul. What’s good for yours?
